Network Layer Attacks

At the network layer, there are two major threats. One is passive observation of network traffic, called snooping or sniffing. The other is active modification of network traffic, usually by inserting fake packets (called spoofing), but sometimes deletion of valid packets can be part of an attack scheme as well.
